Atopic dermatitis, also known as atopic eczema, is a condition that results in itchy, scaly and red skin. It is an inflammatory skin disease which is a common recurrent form of skin allergy.  Acute flare-ups of eczematous pruritic lesions mainly categorise atopic dermatitis over dry skin due to high levels of immunoglobulin E (IgE).  As already discussed in our one of the previous articles, our immune system releases histamines in response to allergens.
